The surgeon at Hammerfall has seen fit to have Spira and myself transported back to Silvermoon for the rest of our recovery. He says there's little more that he can do for us. Personally, I'm glad to be away from him. How sanitary can things be when his flesh is falling off his very bones? The stench of him would always let you know when he was about to enter and would always linger hours after he'd left. Though I will admit, he is a very skilled surgeon. I will have to go back and see him for training when I am able to.

The hospice here in the City isn't quite as dreary. However they are so much more militant and strict. I can barely make a trip to the ladies room without having to endure a slew of interrogations on the way there and back.

And they have been quite fussy. They have forbidden me to attempt any sort of contact with the Light to try and heal myself. I don't understand why not. I can feel that my abilities are greater than a good portion of those that are looking after me. Why should I not heal myself when I know they are not able to?

And they won't let me see Spira. This has me concerned greatly. She's about all I have left in the world and they are keeping me from even knowing how she fairs. I grow more and more concerned by the day and have begun to have rather rebellious thoughts.

Eislin betrayed me. He betrayed us all. This whole time he has been working with the Scourge in an attempt to assist them in our complete extermination. They promised him a position of power it seems, and he has believed them. To think, all this time when I was protecting him, he was plotting to kill me. It was his belief that I hold the key to preventing the Scourge from spreading further, and even eradicating them from Azeroth completely. So it seems I have been marked for death.

He very nearly succeeded.

We went to the Highlands and walked right in to his trap. He had told us that he was pinned in, surrounded and not sure he could make it out. In reality he was sitting in the middle a depression, tied to a stump, or so it seemed. He said he didn't know where they had all gone but implored us to release him, which we started to do when they attacked. They came at us from every direction, and it was then that Eislin jumped up and started to attack us as well.

Spira and Chairman fought well, both taking out quite a few of the Scourge. More, really, than most would have thought possible. But eventually Spira grew too weak to cast and I was just able to pull her away. Chairman kept beating them back and hollered for us to run.

The Scourge were swarming all around us and I had to take up arms against them, attempting to heal Chairman and Spira at the same time as fighting them off myself. I could tell that it was a fight we couldn't win. Chairman realized this as well. He again hollered at us to run while we still could, demanded it even, and he would aid our escape as much as he could. It was then that Spira fell.

In a split second I cast the blessing of protection on her, then on myself, lifted her up and ran. I could feel the wounds inflicted on me already beginning to fester and burn with the poison of the Scourge. And I could hear Eislin laughing maniacally above the sounds of the battle that Chairman waged on.

I knew the instant that Chairman was overcome. The battle cry he uttered just seconds before was abruptly cut off. Then all I heard was the sound of my own blood rushing in my ears. I stumbled and almost dropped Spira's unconscious form, but by the Light was able to remain afoot. And I kept running.

I didn't stop until there was nothing left in me to run with and I was forced to stop or die trying to run further. I listened intently and looked around, fully expecting the Scourge to still be upon us, but there was nothing. Only tall waving grass upon the hills and a treeline about 10 yards from where I had stopped.

Able to pause I took a look at Spira's wounds as well as my own. Both of us had been attacked viciously but she ws harder hit. Cloth doesn't hold up too well to slashing swords and stabbing daggers. Her robes were splattered with blood, her own, mine, Chairman's or all of ours I'll never know for sure. Her breathing was ragged and I could tell she was close to death. I cleansed what poisons I could and healed her then inspected my own.

I was also covered in blood. Gashes everywhere, poisoned blades slashed and pierced my skin, the diseases of the Scourge also tainted the blades and I could feel it burning and corrupting my very being. And I did what I could for myself as well.

I passed out shortly after. When I awoke, Spira and I were in a farmer's cart, being taken to Hammerfall. We have been here for a couple days now and the surgeon here refuses to let us leave until we're fully healed. At the moment I have no cause to argue with him. Spira is still hot with fever and I am still far too weak to travel. I shall have a few more scars to accompany the ones that I already hide, and the surgeon is concerned for the wound on my leg. He says it was deep and took all his resources to mend. There will be a scar there, and there may be permanent muscle damage, but only time will tell.

As I lay here, unable to really move much, I can't help but think about Chairman. He certainly had some strange ways but he was a good guardian. He deserved much better than how he ended.
